Description
Tata Steel will cut up to 1500 jobs at its Long Products division. 1200 jobs will be cut in Scunthorpe and 300 in Teesside. The cuts are blamed on falling demand for steel. The company may revise its total job reduction in Scunthorpe from 1,200 to 750 after discussions with trade unions. Unions have proposed other cost saving methods such as flexible working arrangements and reductions in overtime pay and bonuses.
