Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Electronics company Flextronics' US owners have decided to close down the company's division in Skive (Denmark) by the end of 2011. This will result in 280 job cuts at the division. After negotiations with the employees' union 3F it has been agreed that the redundant employees will receive € 1.3 million in severance pay. At the same time the job centre in Skive sets up a further training plan for the redundant employees funded by the so-called 'early warning pool'.
As reported, Denmark has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
