Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 22 September 2011, car manufacturer PSA Peugeot-Citroën announced the cut of 115 positions at its plant in Aulnay-sous-Bois and confirmed the 180 job losses announced last year for the logistic site of Melun-Sénart. The future of the plant in Aulnay is uncertain after 2014.
The management proposed 115 voluntary departures until 2012. Another 300 temporary workers (out of 350) will not have their contract renewed. For the employees working at Melun-Sénart the company will offer employment opportunities in other plants of the group.
As reported, France has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
