Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Window maker VEKA is to create 100 jobs over the next year. The company bought one of its competitors, Bowater Building Products in Sutton Coldfield, in June. Some of the work done by Bowater will be moved to Burnley. VEKA said it would look to redeploy as many West Midlands workers as possible. It currently employs 150 people in Burnley and will initially look to fill warehouse and distribution positions, followed by production jobs.
