Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 8 April 2011, a railway operator Przewozy Regionalne in Katowice announced that it will implement collective dismissal programme affecting 325 employees from 9 May 2011 until 30 November 2011. The dismissals will affect all staff servicing the connections - e.g. drivers, trainmen, cashiers, maintenance worker, communicators, inspectors, and consignors.
The workforce reduction is a response to the creation of Koleje Śląskie, a new regional railway operator in the Śląskie Voivodeship, which will be operating on the same railway connections/routes.
