Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Indian outsourcing services provider Aegis (a unit of the Essar Group) is to open a new customer centre in Manchester, creating 600 call centre jobs by the end of the year. The company plans to open a number of additional customer centres across Europe in the next two years.
The mature business process outsourcing (BPO) market in Manchester made the firm choose the city over others for its new customer centre. The decision to start business in Manchester followed a consultation process with local businesses and civic leaders in the city.
Aegis provides accounting, finance, HR and IT services to firms which intends to cut overheads by outsourcing those parts of their business.
