Description
EUROLCDS, new manufacturer of liquid crystal displays (LCD), plans to open a new production unit in Ventspils, creating up to 100 new jobs. The new company has been founded by Macro Rīga Ltd. (Latvia), Hornell Teknikinvest AB (Sweden), LC Tec Holding AB (Sweden) and Baltic-focused private equity and growth investor BaltCap. The investment was complemented by the European Investment Fund (EIF)-managed JEREMIE initiative, co-financed by the EU Structural Fund (EUR 1.25 million). Overall costs of the project could reach EUR 7 million.
EUROLCDS is targeting the industrial and medicine equipment producers and sellers in the European Union, USA and Japan that use liquid crystal displays elements for their products. The facility will primarily be focused on products for 3D applications, automatically darkening welding glass and LCD-based signs.
