Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 10 June 2011, the rector of the Technical University of Radom Mirosław Luft announced plans to cut 100 jobs among technical and administrative staff. The authorities of the University signed the bilateral agreement with the local trade unions and as a result of the negotiations the redundant people will receive severance pay equal to six months' wages.
The job cuts are blamed on an inflated workforce in those departments and high costs to run technical and administrative services. According to the rector the ratio of researcher/scientist to the other staff is almost 1:1, while at other Polish technical universities it is 1:0.6 and this ratio is expected to be achieved after the redundancies.
The Technical University of Radom employs 978 people (526 researchers and scientists and 452 people hired in administration and technical departments)
