Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The call centre operator Arvato announced its intention to create 150 jobs in 2011 following the expansion of its site in Metz (Moselle). Arvato has three major clients (EDF, SFR, Canal +). This site opened in 2000 with 150 workers. The workforce increased to 350 in 2002, 500 in 2007 and has currently 600 employees. The company received some financial help from local authorities to make its investment. With the expansion of the site, Arvato also intends to improve working conditions.
