Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 17 March 2011, the printing machine manufacturer Manroland announced its plans to cut 300 jobs at its location in Offenbach and 200 jobs in Augsburg. The company also reported that it wanted to lower its total headcount from 7,023 to fewer than 6,000 by the end of 2012. In 2010, the firm's turnover decreased by 1.11 billion euros.
