Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Government of Styria plans to cut 700 of its 8,500 public service posts by the end of 2015 due to the austerity drive. The province is to present its budget for 2011/12 in the coming days. Due to the necessity to consolidate 'by far more than EUR 1 billion', the Styrian Government is prepared to implement the cuts. According to the press the mass redundancy is supposed to save EUR 644 million in 2011 and EUR 908 in 2012. Additionally in 2012, a pay freeze for the public sector employees is planned. Until the end of 2015, 750 jobs in public service are to be lost via filling only every third post that is becoming vacant.
