Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 26 January 2011, the national postal operator Poczta Polska announced a collective dismissal of 4,900 employees. The redundancies will be implemented between February and October 2011. Zbigniew Baranowski, a public relations officer of Poczta Polska, said that dismissals are necessary because of bad economical condition of the company. Since 2009 Poczta Polska has been implementing restructuring program. From 2010 around 86,000 workers agreed to change their contract conditions, while 7,000 people have not yet accepted them. Between 2009 and 2010, the Polish Post Office made 2,667 employees redundant.
