European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 3 December 2010, the Polish parliament enacted the Act on rationalization of employment in the public administration for 2011-2013. According to the Act, which came into force on 1 of January 2011, the civil workforce will be cut by 28,000 positions or 10% of total workforce of central administrations. Around 1,000 people will have to leave ministries and another 6,000 job cuts are foreseen in the tax office. The police, border guards and fire-fighters are exempt from the Act. The dismissals are part of a restructuring plan aiming at reduction of the operating costs of the national administration. According to the Polish government the cuts will help to safe 1bn Zloty (over EUR 256 million) in 2013 and another 1.8bn Zloty (EUR 462 million) in 2014.
