Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Marcegaglia, one of the world leaders in the steel and metallurgical sector, is to create 250 new jobs in its plants located at Casalmaggiore (in the province of Cremona), Gazoldo degli Ippoliti (in the province of Mantova), and Ravenna. The workers will be hired with apprenticeship contracts. The trade unions have planned some meetings with the company in order to negotiate how to guarantee the application of the company-level collective agreements also to these new employees. Marcegaglia has around 7,000 employees (around 5,000 in Italy).
