Description
On 22 December 2010, the Slovenian newspaper Delo announced that the largest Slovenian construction company SCT group as a holding company entered into compulsory settlement procedure while some of its subsidiaries entered the bankruptcy procedure. All in all, 1,071 employees will be made redundant. In SCT Group as a parent company the number of employees will be reduced from 1923 to 1497, i.e. by 426, while in its two subsidiary companies, which entered bankruptcy procedure, for another 645, in SCT Gem- 400 and in SCT Obrati 245. All SCT Groups subsidiary companies are located in Ljubljana in the Osrednje-slovenska region. The entire Slovenian construction sector is in a heavy crisis and suffers from the payment arrears and the lack of new orders
