Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 15 December 2010, Atos Origin announced its intention to recruit between 7,000 and 8,000 employees next year across its global operation units, which will include 1,600 new jobs in France. On the same day the company's CEO, Thierry Breton, announced a merger between Atos and Siemens IT Solutions and Services, to create a leading European I.T company (number 7 in the world) with 78,500 employees (including 62,000 engineers). Currently Atos Origins has a global workforce of 50,000 workers.
