Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The automotive supplier Zizala, which produces light systems for motor vehicles, is to expand its business and thus plans to hire 400 new employees by 2012, among them 200 technicians and engineers. Zizala, which is located in the Lower Austrian town of Wieselburg, is to expand its business due to increased demand from Asia, first and foremost China, whereas business in Europe still stagnates. The most important clients, however, are the German motor vehicle producers Audi, BMW, Porsche and Volkswagen. The company's CEO Mr Schuhleitner expects an increase in turnover of 20 percent for 2010, and a plus of even 30 percent for the whole ZKW group, which consists of Zizala, the Czeck company KES and the Slovak company ZKW.
