European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On November 18, 2010, the German chemical group Bayer announced plans to create 2,500 positions, particularly in the emerging markets. Over the same period, the group announced to cut approximately 4,500 positions worldwide - including 1700 in Germany - before the end of 2012. The IG BCE union has asked Bayer to negotiate to preserve employment in Germany. The company has 54,500 employees in Europe.
