Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Cargotec, a Finnish manufacturer of cargo handling equipment, will cut approximately 90 jobs from its Tampere unit. Cargotec has concluded obligatory negotiations with its employees on the cuts. It is converting the Tampere unit into a "technology and competence centre" and moving production to a new facility. Some laid-off workers may be offered work at Cargotec's new assembly plant in Poland. Cuts will take place in phases during the next 1.5 years.
