Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The state owned railway company, DSB, announced on 28 October 2010 that approximately 140 administrative employees at the headquarters in Copenhagen will be fired. DSB initially indicated that the company's 'adaptation guarantee', which guarantees the employees six month's wage if their jobs are made redundant, will be eliminated. However, after the obligatory consultation round with the union HK Trafik og Jernbane, the company's management agreed to postpone eliminating the gurantee until after this round of lay-offs.
