Description
Derby City Council has announced its voluntary redundancy programme in an attempt to shed 750 jobs. The authority hasn't ruled out compulsory redundancies, but hopes that its voluntary programme will account for the 750 job cuts needed.
Update 7th January 2011
Derby Council has released figures showing that it plans to make fewer than the expected 750 job cuts previously announced. It predicts that between 370 and 676 jobs will be lost depending on other money saving measures it hopes to agree with staff. These measures include cutting the working week by one hour to 36 hours and reducing sick pay. 140 posts have already been lost, and 193 more have already been identified as redundant.
Update 10/9/11
Derby Council announced that it cut 465 jobs up until the end of March, and that it intends to shed a further 500 jobs in the next year.
