Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 8 October 2010, the management of automotive supplier Sealynx announced their intentions to cut 257 of 736 jobs at their plant in Charleval (Eure) beginning in November 2010. Unions at the Charlaval plant have been complaining about the relocation of production to the group's foreign sites and has indicated that they will seek to negotiate the best severance packages for the employees affected by the plan. The cuts will initially occur voluntarily.
