Description

UWV, the Dutch public organisation that is responsible for the administration of unemployment and disability benefits, will eliminate 2,300 jobs over the next two and a half year. The restructuring plan will impact employees that were hired since 2009 on temporary contracts and aims to help combat the negative effects of the financial crisis. The organization has indicated that they anticipate more redundancies in the future.

Update: On 14 March 2011, the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment announced that in the next four years even more jobs will be scrapped: the total will lie between 5000 and 6000. The Cabinets wants to cut the budget for the organization of social security by € 2.5 billion.
