Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Baltijos laivu statykla, the company engaged in building and repairing ships, intends to dismiss around 100 employees in Klaipeda by the end of October, 2010. The company was established by Danish company Odense Steel Shipyard in 1999. Currently the company is undergoing the restructuring process - in June, 2010 it has been sold to Estonian company BLRT Grupp. Odense Steel Shipyard is disposing of their subsidiaries as a consequence of the decision from August, 2009 to close their shipbuilding activities. Currently Baltijos laivu statykla employs 1000 employees.
