Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In November 2010 Hyza Company will relocate its Žilina poultry production site to Topolčany, leading to the loss of approximately 200 employees. The remaining 50 employees will be transferred to the logistic unit in Žilina. The relocation is motivated by the desire to cut costs so that the company can compete against increasing imports of cheaper, lower quality foreign meat. Slovak poultry producers have been forced to both cut their prices and retain enough profits to be able to keep their quality of goods high and invest in technology. Hyza management has pledged to provide job counselling for dismissed employees
