Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 13 April 2010, the American manufacturer of underwear DBApparel (8.300 employees worldwide), owner of the best known brands DIM, Playtex or Wonderbra, announced to cut up to 333 jobs across the EU, mainly in France (142) by Playtex which has been harshly hit by the crisis losing 7 million euro in 2009, according to the management. At the same time, DBApparel will create some jobs at the plant in Autun (Saône et Loire); however, as of April 2010, there is no information on the number of new jobs and when they will be created by.
