Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 11 June, the management of PSA Peugeot-Citroën plant in Mulhouse announced the recruitment of 500 workers for six months at least. Employment will commence in October 2010. They will be part of the night-work team for the production of the new C4 and DS4 expected to enter production later this year. Most of the new recruits are temporary workers but 40 people will be hired on permanent contracts.
Update 31 August 2010:
The management of PSA Peugeot-Citroën has announced the establishment of new night shift and the creation of 800 jobs (for most temporary workers) beginning in October, up from the 500 originally announced. The growth in jobs is allowed by good sales figures for new models C4 and DS4, former models and 206 + 308 and the production of the rear of the future 3008 Hybrid Diesel.
