Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 29 July, the Board of Directors of the National Health Insurance (Caisse national d'assurance maladie - CNAM) adopted a plan to cut 3,950 jobs over four years. This is a downsizing of just over 5%. The initial plan was that only one person in two taking retirement would be replaced. The strict application of this principle would have led to the elimination of at least 4,200 posts. But according to the management of CNAM, 250 new posts will be created over the same period, resulting in a net balance of 3,950 job losses.
