Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 23 June 2010 Thieme Grafimedia Groep, one of the largest printing groups in the Netherlands, said it will cut 200 jobs in the coming 18 months. The cuts will bring total employment down to 800 in total. Some 100 jobs will be cut by not replacing employees that leave, or not extending fixed contracts; the remaining 100 employees will be directly dismissed. The job losses come on top of the bankruptcy of five subsidiaries filed in February 2010.
