Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Zurich Insurance has announced up to 120 new jobs at its European centres in Dublin. For nearly two years the Zurich Insurance Group has been recruiting staff for its Irish sites. So far this year 120 jobs have been filled at its new business centre in Wexford. It has now emerged that an additional 120 people will be recruited before the end of 2010 at the company's two European centres in Dublin. This will bring total new job creation in Ireland to 240 by the end of 2010.
Zurich - which employs 60,000 people worldwide - has suggested that it considered various other locations, but that Ireland had stood out because of its participation in the euro single currency, and its highly educated and skilled workforce. The new jobs will mean that a total of 1,100 will be employed by Zurich Insurance in Ireland.
