Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hit, the largest Slovenian company in gambling business located in Nova Gorica, is to cut between 200 to 250 jobs by the end of the year. These job losses come on top of 130 layoffs already implemented at the beginning of this year. Altogether between 330 to 380 jobs are to be cut. At the end of 2009, the company employed 1,747 employees. It entered into quite severe problems in 2009 and the economic downturn made the situation worse.
UPDATE - 12 August 2010: Instead of the initially announced 200-250 job losses, the company will cut 400 jobs in total by the end of 2010.
UPDATE - 16 September 2010: By mid September already 418 employees lost jobs.
