European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 29 March 2010, Kohler France (a subsidiary of the US Kohler group - 27000 employees world wide) confirmed to its Works Council that the production of fixtures ceramics factory « Jacob Delafon » in Brive will be closed as part of the reorganization of industrial production of ceramics. The company announced it would cut 159 jobs, including 139 permanent contracts. The plant will close its doors in July 2010. Another 26 jobs will be cut at the headquarters in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) and in a factory in Troyes (Aube). Management explained the factory in Brive is losing between 5 and 7 millions euro each year. The mayor of Brive and the unions pointed out that the production will be transferred to three units in Zaragosa (Spain), Tangiers (Morocco) and in India. The works council wants to examine the accounts of Jacob Delafon and have engaged to this end an accountant.
