Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Seville shipyards have presented a plan to lay off 183 workers to the local authorities. Unions are strongly opposed to the plan, questioning the viability of operating the yard with less than 70 workers remaining after the dismissals and also complaining that an agreement to privatise the operation of the shipyard in 2006 had apparently promised protection against such job cuts.
