Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
October 18 2010, Swedish manufacturer of polymer technology and rubber products, Trelleborg, announced to revise their decision taken on May 5 2010 on cutting all 200 jobs at the production site in Ersmark, Skellefteå, Sweden. A total of 160 employees will be offered to keep their positions. However, the work force will still be reduced, the company has declared 100 jobs will be cut. The reason for keeping the production site is evolving market conditions. The former decision, taken in May 2010, was to move the facilities to Italy, Malta and other parts of Sweden in order to remain cost effective in the long run.
The factory in Skellefteå makes rubber seals with industrial applications for heavy vehicles.
