The Lithuanian Labour Exchange intends to dismiss about 186 employees in different Lithuanian regions by 10 September, 2010. The main cause of the dismissals is internal restructuring of the Lithuanian Labour Exchange, which will result in reduced number of local labour exchanges in different Lithuanian regions. The number of regional offices will be reduced from 46 to 10. Currently 1430 employees are employed at the Lithuanian Labour Exchange.
Lithuanian Labour Exchange was established under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour and it implements state employment guarantees on labour market. It provides assistance for job seekers in finding a job, involves registered job seekers into population employment programs, pays unemployment benefits, etc.
