Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ericsson, a world-leading provider of telecommunications equipment, is to cut 115 jobs in its Italian plants by the end of 2010. In particular, the job-cuts should involve the research and development division and the sites located at Genova (the most part of job-cuts), Pagani (in the province of Salerno), Vimodrone (in the province of Milano), and Pisa. The trade unions have requested the involvement of national authorities in order to avoid the dismissals of high-skilled workers.
