Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 15 April 2010, the American manufacturer of intimate apparel and underwear DBApparel (8300 employees worldwide), owner of the best known brands DIM, Playtex or Wonderbra, announced to cut up to 333 jobs across the EU, mainly in France (142) by Playtex which has been harshly hit by the crisis losing 7 million euro in 2009, according to the management. The company had already cut 900 jobs in the EU in 2006.
The company currently employs 8300 people worldwide. As of April 2010, there is no information on the number employed in Europe.
