Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 3 April 2010, the telecommunications provider Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) announced plans to cut 270 jobs at its German site in Bruchsal. A representative of the union told the press that production is to be outsourced to India and repairing activities to East-Asia and the company later confirmed this report, stating that the production site in Bruchsal was to be restructured and a new concept for its future existence implemented. Nokia Siemens is currently cutting up to 6,000 jobs worldwide (see related factsheet).
