Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
BDR Logistics Ltd has closed down resulting in the loss of 145 jobs. The company stopped trading on 17 April 2010 since it owed more than £1m, with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) being the biggest creditor. Administrators have sent letters to employees to advise them of the administration, their rights and the course of action they need to take in order to make a claim in respect of their redundancy.
