Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, announced on 3 March 2010 that 106 employees will be made redundant. Among the redundant are six doctors, 34 nurses, 19 health carers, and 19 secretaries. The redundancies come after a period of constant increase in the number of employees at Rigshospitalet and other hospitals. The economic crisis made it necessary to slim the budget at the hospitals in the Capital Region. However, many fired employees has been re-employed at other hospitals or in jobs that were left open after natural wastage. Rigshospitalet counts on hiring again when times are a little better.
