It has been announced that 300 new jobs are to be created by Abtran, a call centre and outsourcing company located in County Cork. The company, which describes itself as a 'business process outsourcer', was formed 12 years ago and presently employs over 1,000 staff. It is envisaged that 300 jobs will be created over the next two years - by 2012.
In terms of its role, Abtran outsources various functions for clients such as Electricity Supply Board, An Post, BSkyB and Aviva. It is understood that the new jobs are the culmination of a €3m investment in research and development, backed by Enterprise Ireland.
