Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 29 March 2010, the automobile supplier Läpple announced it is to cut 250 jobs at its production site in Heilbronn. The job cuts are part of a restructuring programme aimed at tackling the difficult market environment. Apart from the job cuts, the company wants to sell parts of its administration and tool production units. Such a move would affect another 450 employees. The company currently employs a total of 2,400 staff worldwide. As of March 2010, there is no information on when the job cuts will be implemented by.
