Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Power manufacturing firm Mitra Energy and Infrastructure situated in Wavre (Wallonia) filed on bankruptcy on Wednesday 17 March resulting in the loss of 193 jobs. When the manager of the company, Eric Brouwers, bought it from the Cherokee American group in 2008, Mitra was already in poor financial health. Trade unions declared that they were not taken by surprise since the new CEO had never found the necessary partners and investors to strengthen the financial base of the company.
The company had operated in the design, the development and the manufacture of power conversion solutions and conversion systems.
