Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ruch, a Polish distributor of press and publications, is planning to lay off 781 employees, accounting for approximately 20% of its staff. The restructuring programme was accepted by Ruch's board on Tuesday 16 March 2010 with the aim to make savings of PLN 2.8 million (around €658,000). At first 799 jobs were to be made redundat, but the number has dropped to 781. Approximately 4000 people are currently employed by Ruch.
