Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish domestic cleaning services company Hemfrid plans to recruit 250 workers during 2010. Hemfrid says in a statement that it has experienced increasing demand despite the current crisis. Last year's turnover increased by 30% and the company's profit amounted to SEK 16.2 million (€1.6 million) in 2009. Around 10% of the new jobs will be so called "new start jobs" (NSJ).
As of February 2010, the company employs 900 workers in all major cities of Sweden. Half of the company's current work force consists of foreign-born immigrants.
