State-owned company Electrocentrale Bucuresti is to cut 500 jobs in Bucarest in 2010. This measure is part of a restructuring programme promoted by the Ministry of Economy which involves 3,545 collective dismissals affecting various public companies (Compania Nationala a Huilei Petrosani, Termoelectrica Bucuresti, Electrocentrale Deva, Complexul Energetic Turceni, Complexul Energetic Rovinari, Societatea Nationala a Lignitului Oltenia). The dismissals are attributed to a need to reduce energy price.
