European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
State-owned energy company Compania Nationala a Huilei in Petrosani is to cut 1,600 jobs in 2010. This measure is part of a restructuring programme promoted by the Ministry of Economy which involves 3,545 collective dismissals affecting various public companies (Termoelectrica Bucuresti, Electrocentrale Deva, Electrocentrale Bucuresti, Complexul Energetic Turceni, Complexul Energetic Rovinari, Societatea Nationala a Lignitului Oltenia). The dismissals are attributed to a need to reduce energy prices.
