Description
Welsh Water has announced a phased reduction of 300 jobs over the next 5 years as the company attempts to reduce operating costs by 20%. It has stated it will work with trade unions to achieve the losses through a combination of retirements, natural staff turnover and voluntary severance. The company, owned by not-for profit Glas Cymru, says it will require less staff through utilising the latest technology, investing in 'green energy' and streamlining job roles. No numbers were given regarding the company's current employees.
