Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 12 January, textile company Uco Yarns announced the closure of its site in Bruges and the loss of 107 jobs (87 blue-collar jobs and 20 white-collar jobs) by the end of April. This announcement is a hard blow after the closure of the Ghent site in September 2008 resulting in 379 dismissals.
