Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Due to signs of increasing demand, Volvo Trucks is to create 240 jobs in its lacquering unit in Umea. Lacquering of plastic car parts was previously carried out by a company in Belgium. As of January 2010, there is no information about when the jobs will be created.
Volvo Trucks has announced a number of restructuring plans in Sweden over the last year. This is the second case of business expansion since the beginning of the recession. See related fact sheets 14583, 11990 and 11727.
Update
The Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo Trucks has announced on Novemeber 11 2010 it will permanently employ 380 fixed term workers during the beginning of 2011. The positive result of the facilities in Umeå, Sweden, has led to the employment of 580 fixed term workers. Of these, 380 will be permanently employed.
